This one is a texture, not a reading experience

A marquee tells a visitor "there are a lot of these" in about half a second, without them reading a single word. That is its entire job and it does it better than any other layout.

It is correspondingly bad at the job of getting a specific review read, because moving text is genuinely harder to read and most people will not chase it. Treat the individual reviews as decoration and the impression of volume as the message.

One thing worth knowing before you ship it: continuous motion is an accessibility consideration. Some visitors set a reduced-motion preference at the operating system level, and a band that ignores that setting is a real problem for them, not a stylistic one.

Choosing

When to Use It, and When Not To

✓Use it when

You have a lot of reviews and volume is the argument.
You want a full-width band that separates two sections without a heavy block.
The page is already busy and another grid would compete with it.
Reviews are short. Long ones scroll past unread.

!Pick something else when

You have under about ten reviews. A marquee with six visibly loops and looks emptier than a grid of six.
The reviews carry the detail that closes the sale. Nobody reads a moving card carefully.
It is the only proof on the page.
Your audience skews toward people who find motion difficult. A static grid costs you nothing here.

Scrolling Reviews Marquee Widget FAQ

What is a marquee widget?

A band of review cards that scrolls sideways continuously rather than paging. There are no dots, no arrows, and nothing to click.

Does it respect reduced-motion settings?

Motion preferences are an accessibility setting a visitor sets in their operating system, and any continuously animating element should honour it. If you support an audience where this matters, test it with the setting on before shipping, and use the grid if you are not satisfied.

Can I run more than one row?

Yes, and two rows moving in opposite directions reads better than one row at double height.

Will it slow the page down?

The widget loads in an iframe and does not block your page rendering. The animation is CSS transform based, which is the cheap kind.

Can visitors pause it?

It slows on hover so a card someone is interested in stays readable. It is still not the layout to choose if you want reviews read.
