Where do the reviews and the rating in the Yelp widget come from?
The star rating and review count in the header come from Yelp, exactly as Yelp publishes them for your listing, never averaged from the cards. The cards are reviews from your public Yelp page, each credited to Yelp and linked back to your yelp.com/biz page. Reviews Yelp does not recommend are not part of Yelp's rating, so they never change the header.
How does this compare to Yelp's own native embed code?
Yelp's Embed review button, on the desktop site, puts one recommended review on your page at a time. That is fine for a single quote but offers no styling, no header rating and no updates. Can I filter Yelp reviews to only show 4–5 star ones?
Widgets only ever show your 4-star-and-up Yelp reviews, and on every plan, free included, you can narrow that to 5 stars only in the configurator. The header always shows Yelp's own rating and count, whatever the filter. We don't recommend hiding low-star reviews permanently — a perfectly 5-star widget reads as filtered to most visitors. Mix in 4-star content for trust.
Does the Yelp widget add review schema markup, and will it get me stars in Google?
No. The Yelp widget adds no review schema markup, by design. And no widget gets you stars from these reviews: since July 2026 Google does not show review stars for reviews a business shows about itself through an embedded widget.
