How it installs on WordPress

  1. 1

Open the page or post in the WordPress block editor.

  2. 2

Add a Custom HTML block where the reviews should appear (Classic editor: use the Text tab).

  3. 3

Paste the BlooTrue embed code into the block.

  4. 4

Update/Publish the page — the widget renders on the live site.

Where the code goes on WordPress

In the WordPress block editor the embed sits in a Custom HTML block, which you can drop anywhere in a post, page, or block-based template. The block has a Preview tab that renders the widget inside the editor, and it takes the width of its container and grows to fit the reviews. In the Classic editor you must paste on the Text tab, because the Visual tab rewrites script tags. Caching and security plugins are the WordPress-specific catch: a page cache can hold the old HTML until purged, and script-minifying optimizers can break the snippet.

WordPress plan note: Self-hosted WordPress supports the embed on every plan. On WordPress.com, custom embed code requires the Business plan or higher.

Where reviews earn their place on a WordPress site

Homepage below the hero and on a dedicated testimonials page — WordPress themes almost always have a widget-ready section for both.

If the widget does not show on WordPress

  • Widget missing on the live site but visible in the editor usually means a caching plugin. Purge the page cache and reload the page.
  • If the script tag vanished after saving in the Classic editor, you pasted on the Visual tab. Switch to Text and paste again.
  • A blank block on WordPress.com below the Business plan is the plan limit on custom embed code, not a widget problem.

WordPress Review Widgets — FAQ

Is there a free review widget for WordPress?
Yes — BlooTrue embeds Google, Facebook, Trustpilot, Yelp, TripAdvisor, G2, Capterra, Airbnb, Booking.com or any of 21 review platforms on WordPress for free. Gutenberg block, Classic Editor, or sidebar widget. No plugin. No plugin, no view caps.
Which review platforms can I show on WordPress?
21 platforms: Google, Trustpilot, Yelp, Facebook, TripAdvisor, Airbnb, Angi, Glassdoor, Agoda, BBB, OpenTable, RateMDs, Capterra, G2, Indeed, TrustRadius, Clutch, Expedia, Booking.com, Etsy, Google Play — each with its own WordPress install guide. Starter ($9/month) blends its 3 connected platforms into one all-in-one widget, and Pro ($29/month) and higher blend every platform you connect.
Do I need a WordPress plugin or app?
No. BlooTrue is a pure HTML embed — one line of code pasted into the WordPress editor. Gutenberg block, Classic Editor, or sidebar widget. No plugin.
Do I need a plugin to add a reviews widget in WordPress?
No. The Custom HTML block that ships with the block editor runs the BlooTrue embed on its own. Paste the snippet into the block and click Update or Publish. A plugin adds another thing to update and can conflict with caching or security plugins, so the built-in block is the safer route.
Where do I paste embed code in the WordPress Classic editor?
On the Text tab, not Visual. The Visual tab of the Classic editor rewrites script tags and can mangle the snippet, which leaves an empty space where the reviews should be. Click Text, paste the code where you want the widget, then Update. Switching back to Visual afterwards is fine once it is saved.
Can I put the widget in a sidebar or footer widget area in WordPress?
Yes. Widget areas managed under Appearance accept a Custom HTML block, or the Custom HTML widget in older themes, so the same embed works in a sidebar or footer. The widget shrinks to the column width, so check how it reads in a narrow sidebar before you publish it there.
