Glassdoor employer reviews on a WordPress site

A candidate who looks you up on Glassdoor before applying can find the same rating on your WordPress careers page instead. What matters on WordPress is where the reviews sit in your theme and how caching treats them, since both decide what that candidate actually sees.

Can Glassdoor reviews sit in a WordPress sidebar?

Yes, a Custom HTML block in a sidebar widget area works, but keep it compact there. Long employee reviews squeezed into a narrow column turn into a tall strip that most readers scroll straight past.

A workable pattern is a compact badge in the sidebar of job posts and the full reviews on the careers page itself, where the content column gives them room to be read.

Does WordPress caching freeze my Glassdoor rating?

No. A page cache only decides whether the embed code reaches visitors; the rating and reviews load from BlooTrue when the page opens. Purge the cache once after adding the block, and a paid plan's daily updates then arrive without another purge.

Two things can still get in the way. A script-minifying optimizer can break the snippet, so exclude it there. On WordPress.com, custom embed code needs the Business plan or higher, so a blank block on a lower plan is that limit, not your Glassdoor profile.

SEO + AI schema · paid plans

Review schema markup, on paid plans

Paid widgets add schema.org Review and AggregateRating JSON-LD to the page they sit on, so search engines and AI answer engines can read your Glassdoor reviews as structured data. Google does not show review stars for reviews a business shows about itself, so the gain is readability, not stars. The free plan shows the reviews without the schema. See how the schema works

How to Add Glassdoor Reviews to WordPress

Connect your Glassdoor profile in BlooTrue, pick a style, then paste one embed code into the Custom HTML block on WordPress and publish. Self-hosted WordPress: every plan. WordPress.com: custom embed code requires the Business plan or higher.

  1. 1

Open the page or post in the WordPress block editor.

  2. 2

Add a Custom HTML block where the reviews should appear (Classic editor: use the Text tab).

  3. 3

Paste the BlooTrue embed code into the block.

  4. 4

Update/Publish the page — the widget renders on the live site.

In the Classic editor paste into the Text tab, not Visual — the visual editor rewrites script tags. The block editor previews the widget correctly.

Where the Code Goes on WordPress

In the WordPress block editor the embed sits in a Custom HTML block, which you can drop anywhere in a post, page, or block-based template.

The block has a Preview tab that renders the widget inside the editor, and it takes the width of its container and grows to fit the reviews. In the Classic editor you must paste on the Text tab, because the Visual tab rewrites script tags. Caching and security plugins are the WordPress-specific catch: a page cache can hold the old HTML until purged, and script-minifying optimizers can break the snippet.

If the widget does not show on WordPress

  • Widget missing on the live site but visible in the editor usually means a caching plugin. Purge the page cache and reload the page.
  • If the script tag vanished after saving in the Classic editor, you pasted on the Visual tab. Switch to Text and paste again.
  • A blank block on WordPress.com below the Business plan is the plan limit on custom embed code, not a widget problem.

Where Glassdoor reviews help most on WordPress

Companies running WordPress sites usually have a careers section with a page per role, sometimes fed by a job board plugin.

Add the Glassdoor widget to the careers landing page above the list of roles, and as a compact badge in the job post template near the Apply button. Posts about the team or company culture are a natural third spot. If a job board plugin renders the role pages, paste the widget into the page around the plugin's block rather than into the plugin's own settings, where an update can wipe it without warning.

About Glassdoor reviews in this widget

The Glassdoor widget puts your Glassdoor employer rating and the reviews behind it on your careers and hiring pages, where candidates check before applying. The header is the employer rating out of 5 and review count read from Glassdoor, never worked out from the reviews on show. Those reviews are written by current and former employees, not customers, so the widget shows what working for you is like. Employers get one thing wrong: assuming they need Glassdoor's paid employer products before embedding their rating. You do not; the builder reads your public Glassdoor company page.

Glassdoor Widget on WordPress — FAQ

Is the BlooTrue Glassdoor review widget free for WordPress?
Yes. BlooTrue is completely free to embed Glassdoor reviews on WordPress. No plugin, no recurring fee, unlimited views. The free plan shows your reviews with BlooTrue branding in the footer; paid plans remove the branding.
How do I install the widget on WordPress?
Open the page or post in the WordPress block editor. Add a Custom HTML block where the reviews should appear (Classic editor: use the Text tab). Paste the BlooTrue embed code into the block. Update/Publish the page — the widget renders on the live site. Self-hosted WordPress: every plan. WordPress.com: custom embed code requires the Business plan or higher.
Anything specific to WordPress worth knowing before I embed?
In the Classic editor paste into the Text tab, not Visual — the visual editor rewrites script tags. The block editor previews the widget correctly.
Where should I place Glassdoor reviews on WordPress for the biggest lift?
Homepage below the hero and on a dedicated testimonials page — WordPress themes almost always have a widget-ready section for both.
Do the reviews stay up to date automatically?
Paid plans auto-sync your Glassdoor reviews daily, so the widget always shows your latest 5-star reviews without touching WordPress again. The free plan shows the reviews imported at setup.
How do I get my Glassdoor employer rating onto the careers page of my own site?
Paste your Glassdoor company profile URL into the BlooTrue builder, choose a layout and copy the one-line embed into the careers page; it takes about a minute and installs nothing. The widget shows the employer rating Glassdoor gives you, out of 5, with employee reviews beneath it, so candidates see it without leaving your site.
Do bad Glassdoor reviews from former employees appear in the widget?
Not on the free plan, which lists only your Glassdoor reviews rated four stars or higher. The header is different: it shows the employer rating Glassdoor calculates from every review, so a 3.6 on Glassdoor reads 3.6 in the widget even though the low-rated reviews are absent from the list.
Someone posted a new Glassdoor review, does my widget change?
Only on paid plans, which re-read your Glassdoor profile once a day and add reviews Glassdoor has published since. A free widget keeps the employee reviews and the employer rating captured when you created it, so a review posted in May stays off a free widget you built in April.
