Review rules
Reviews help people choose, so they have to be real. Honest criticism is welcome: a negative review stays up as long as it follows these rules.

Trust and reviews › Review rules
Every review must
- Be about your own experience with the business, such as a purchase, a visit, a booking or a service, in the last 12 months.
- Be written by you, for this business. Do not copy a review from somewhere else or write one for someone else.
- Be honest. Describe what happened and how it felt to you.
Not allowed
- Incentives: a review in return for money, a discount, a gift, a free service or a prize. Businesses must not offer these, and must not ask only their happy customers to review.
- Conflicts of interest: reviewing your own business, your employer, a business run by family or friends, or a competitor. Owners and staff can reply to reviews, not write them.
- Personal data about other people: phone numbers, email or home addresses, health details, or anything else that identifies a private person beyond a first name.
- Hate, threats, harassment, or sexual content.
- Links, phone numbers and advertising.
Any language
Write in the language you are comfortable with. Readers can show a translation.
If a review breaks these rules
We hold it or remove it, and we tell the person who wrote it by email. How we decide, and how to appeal, is on Moderation and appeals.
