BBB Review Widget for WordPress — Free, No Plugin Needed

BlooTrue's BBB Review Widget for WordPress is a free, plugin-free embed that displays your BBB reviews on any WordPress site. It works with both Gutenberg (block editor) and the Classic Editor, requires no coding, and works with any public BBB business profile — no BBB Accreditation required. No view caps on any plan, free or paid. Six widget styles (slider, marquee, grid, list, masonry, badge, compact badge) with light and dark themes plus a free custom color picker. SEO rich snippets — schema.org Review + AggregateRating JSON-LD — are injected automatically, making your WordPress pages eligible for star ratings in Google search results.

How to embed BBB reviews on WordPress in 60 seconds

  1. Paste your BBB business profile URL into the configurator above.
  2. Pick a widget style and customize colors, theme, and layout.
  3. Click Copy Code to get the one-line HTML embed.
  4. In WordPress Gutenberg, add a Custom HTML block and paste. In Classic Editor, switch to the Text tab and paste.
  5. Publish — your BBB reviews are live.

Does BlooTrue work on WordPress.com?

Self-hosted WordPress (wordpress.org, the 95% case) supports the widget fully. On WordPress.com, the Business tier or higher supports custom HTML and works. The free WordPress.com plan strips script tags for security, so the widget will not render there.

Get golden stars in Google search results

On paid plans, every BlooTrue widget injects schema.org Review + AggregateRating JSON-LD straight into your page — so Google and AI answer engines can read your ratings and reviews as structured data, and your pages become eligible for star-rating rich snippets. (Google treats a business's own reviews on its own site as "self-serving" and doesn't guarantee stars for them — product/service reviews are the most reliably eligible; either way your reviews become machine-readable for search and AI.)

Your Business — Trusted by 500+ Happy Customers

See what 127 verified customers are saying — read real BBB reviews, ratings, and detailed feedback about our services, pricing, and team.

4.9
(127)
This is what your customers see when they Google you — powered by BlooTrue's JSON-LD.
  • Zero config — it just works

    The moment you embed a BlooTrue widget, JSON-LD markup is injected automatically. No extra tags, no developer time.

  • Google Rich Results valid

    Every field follows Google's current structured-data guidelines — LocalBusiness, AggregateRating, and Review — so it passes the Rich Results Test out of the box.

  • Standalone schema endpoint Paid plans

    For star ratings to appear under your parent page's blue link in Google, search engines need the schema on the parent page itself — iframe-embedded schema is not propagated to the host page. Paid plans expose a JSON-LD endpoint per widget that you drop into your<head>for SERP rich snippets on product, landing, or legacy pages. Schema markup is a paid feature: free-plan widgets display your reviews but don't emit JSON-LD, so free pages aren't eligible for rich snippets.

What gets injected automaticallylive
<script type="application/ld+json">
{
  "@type": "LocalBusiness",
  "name": "Your Business",
  "aggregateRating": {
    "ratingValue": "4.9",
    "reviewCount": "127"
  }
}
</script>

Star-snippet visibility is ultimately decided by Google — valid schema is a prerequisite, not a guarantee. BlooTrue ships the markup; Google decides which queries get stars. For SERP rich snippets to appear under your parent page's link, the schema must be served on the parent page itself — that's what the standalone JSON-LD endpoint (paid plans) is for. Schema markup is a paid feature, so free-plan widgets display your reviews but don't emit JSON-LD. Independent studies find pages with valid review schema see materially higher click-through rates than plain listings.

What makes a BBB widget different from a Google review widget?

BBB customer reviews are a native 1–5 star system. Knowing how they differ from BBB's A+-to-F letter rating, how profile setup works, and how reviews are moderated avoids surprises after you embed.

BBB customer reviews vs the A+-to-F “BBB rating”

BBB has two separate signals, and this widget shows only one of them. The first is the 1–5 star customer reviews — written by your customers about their experience — with an overall customer-review average; that's what BlooTrue displays. The second is the A+-to-F letter “BBB rating”, which is BBB's own grade for how a business interacts with BBB (complaint history, transparency, time in business, accreditation status) — the widget does not show this letter rating or the accreditation seal. BlooTrue renders each customer review exactly as stars: a 5-star review shows 5 stars, a 3-star review shows 3, and the header shows your real BBB customer-review average and count. The header rating always comes from BBB's own published customer-review aggregate, never from averaging the individual cards on screen.

Where the reviews come from and how often they refresh

BlooTrue fetches the publicly-visible customer reviews from your BBB business profile on a server-side schedule — roughly once every 24 hours on paid plans — and caches the result. Your site never calls BBB directly, so visitor traffic to your page doesn't depend on BBB being reachable, and the widget loads instantly from cache. Only reviews that are public on your profile are included. Each review keeps its reviewer name, star rating, and text, and links back to your BBB business profile.

Accreditation, profile setup, and what shows up in the widget

You do not need to be a BBB Accredited Business to use this widget — it works with any public BBB business profile, accredited or not. Reviews only appear if your profile is public and has customer reviews. If your profile is brand new or has zero reviews, there's nothing for the widget to import yet — it will populate as soon as your first public customer review lands. Once your profile has reviews, the widget shows whatever is public: no more, no less. If a review disappears from your widget after a sync, it almost always means the customer deleted it or BBB removed it — the widget simply follows your profile's public state.

Moderation, review guidelines, and attribution

BBB moderates customer reviews under its review guidelines and removes spam, fraudulent submissions, and content that violates its policies. Because BlooTrue reads only your profile's public reviews, the widget automatically reflects those removals on the next sync — you never display content BBB has already taken down. Every card keeps the BBB mark and the reviewer's name, and clicking a review links back to your BBB business profile, so attribution stays intact. BlooTrue never fabricates a rating: an empty star-only review (a star rating with no written text) is still shown as a real review, and the header number is always BBB's own customer-review aggregate.

BBB tips for WordPress

  • The BBB mark must remain visible inside the widget — do not override it with CSS in your WordPress theme.
  • If your theme uses Gutenberg, paste the embed snippet inside an HTML block (not a Shortcode block) so the BBB reviews load on first render.
  • For WooCommerce product pages, the BBB widget works alongside Google review widgets on the same product without breaking either one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the BlooTrue BBB widget free for WordPress?

Yes, BlooTrue is completely free for WordPress. No sign-up required to preview, no plugin needed, and BlooTrue never caps widget views on any plan, free or paid. The free plan shows BBB reviews with BlooTrue branding in the footer.

Do I need BBB Accreditation to embed reviews on WordPress?

No. BlooTrue works with any public BBB business profile. You do not need BBB Accreditation. Just paste your bbb.org/./profile/your-business URL into the configurator.

Do I need a WordPress plugin to use BlooTrue?

No. BlooTrue uses a pure HTML embed that works in Gutenberg's Custom HTML block, the Classic Editor's Text tab, and the Custom HTML sidebar/footer widget. No plugin to install, configure, or update.

Will the BlooTrue BBB widget slow down my WordPress site?

No. The widget loads asynchronously after your page content, so it never blocks rendering. The script is under 20KB and reviews are served from a CDN cache. Typical load impact is under 50ms — well within Core Web Vitals thresholds.

Does it work on WordPress.com or only self-hosted WordPress?

Self-hosted WordPress works perfectly. WordPress.com Business plan and above also allow custom HTML and work fine. The free WordPress.com plan strips script tags for security — the widget will not load there. Upgrade to a paid WordPress.com plan or migrate to self-hosted WordPress (wordpress.org) to use the widget.

Can I customize the widget to match my WordPress theme?

Yes. The widget supports light and dark themes, 8 preset accent colors plus a free custom hex picker, two card layouts (reviewer-first or review-first), and toggles for reviewer names, dates, review text, and profile images. The outer background is transparent, so it blends with any WordPress theme automatically.
