Review schema markup, on paid plans

Paid widgets add schema.org Review and AggregateRating JSON-LD to the page they sit on, so search engines and AI answer engines can read your BBB reviews as structured data. Google does not show review stars for reviews a business shows about itself, so the gain is readability, not stars. The free plan shows the reviews without the schema. See how the schema works

How to Add BBB Reviews to Joomla

Connect your BBB profile in BlooTrue, pick a style, then paste one embed code into the Custom HTML module on Joomla and publish.

  1. 1

In the Joomla admin, create a Custom module (System → Site Modules → New → Custom).

  2. 2

Switch the editor to code view (or set your editor to 'None' in user settings).

  3. 3

Paste the BlooTrue embed code and assign the module to a template position and menu pages.

  4. 4

Save & publish — the widget renders in that position.

TinyMCE strips script tags on save — switch the editor to 'None'/CodeMirror before pasting, or the embed silently disappears.

Where the Code Goes on Joomla

Joomla holds the embed in a Custom module, created from System, then Site Modules, then New, then Custom, and shown wherever you assign a template position and menu items.

The admin form shows only your code; nothing renders until you open the site. Width comes from the template position you pick, and module chrome such as Cassiopeia's card style adds its own padding. TinyMCE removes script tags on save, so set your account's editor to None or CodeMirror before pasting, and check Text Filters in Global Configuration if your user group is filtered. Clear the cache under System after publishing.

If the widget does not show on Joomla

  • If the saved module is empty, TinyMCE stripped the script; switch your editor to None or CodeMirror in your user settings and paste again.
  • Module saved but nothing on the site? Check the Menu Assignment tab so the module shows on the pages you expect, and confirm the position exists in your template.
  • Old content still showing after edits usually means Joomla's page cache; go to System, Clear Cache, and reload the front end.

Still blank? Our help article Widget not showing covers the checks that apply on every site.

Where BBB reviews help most on Joomla

Many local businesses run Joomla sites that have grown over the years: a services menu, a blog, a page per location.

Put the BBB widget on the home page under the hero, on each service page above the call to action, and on the contact page beside the form. Blog posts bring in readers with a problem, a leaking tap or a cracked tooth, and a compact widget at the end of the post next to a Book now link turns some of them into customers. After pasting, check the site's caching or optimisation settings; some of them delay scripts, and the widget then appears late or only after a refresh.

About BBB reviews in this widget

A BBB widget carries the customer reviews posted on your BBB business profile, each with the 1 to 5 stars the customer gave. The figure in the header is the profile's customer-review star average and how many reviews BBB lists, never the letter grade: the A+ to F rating is BBB's own grade for how your business deals with BBB, complaints included, and stays separate from what customers write. Accreditation is not required. Some owners paste the BBB Accredited Business seal expecting reviews, but the seal only displays the letter grade and accreditation status.

BBB Widget on Joomla — FAQ

Is the BlooTrue BBB review widget free for Joomla?
Yes. BlooTrue is completely free to embed BBB reviews on Joomla. No plugin, no recurring fee, unlimited views. The free plan shows your reviews with BlooTrue branding in the footer; paid plans remove the branding.
How do I install the widget on Joomla?
In the Joomla admin, create a Custom module (System → Site Modules → New → Custom). Switch the editor to code view (or set your editor to 'None' in user settings). Paste the BlooTrue embed code and assign the module to a template position and menu pages. Save & publish — the widget renders in that position.
Anything specific to Joomla worth knowing before I embed?
TinyMCE strips script tags on save — switch the editor to 'None'/CodeMirror before pasting, or the embed silently disappears.
Where should I place BBB reviews on Joomla for the biggest lift?
A full-width module position under the article intro on the homepage.
Do the reviews stay up to date automatically?
Paid plans auto-sync your BBB reviews daily, so the widget always shows your latest 5-star reviews without touching Joomla again. The free plan shows the reviews imported at setup.
Can my A+ BBB rating be the number in the widget header?
No. The header shows the star average of your BBB customer reviews, pulled from your public profile, together with the review count. The A+ to F letter grade is BBB's own assessment of how you interact with BBB and stays separate from customer reviews, so a profile can hold an A+ alongside a 3-star average.
I am not BBB accredited, can I still put my BBB reviews on my site?
Yes. Accreditation is a separate BBB status and the builder does not check for it; it reads any public BBB business profile from its URL, accredited or not. The BBB Accredited Business seal is a different thing again: it displays your letter grade and accreditation status, not the customer review cards you want on the page.
Do BBB complaints show up in the review widget?
No. BBB keeps complaints and customer reviews as separate records on your profile, and the widget imports only the 1 to 5 star customer reviews. Complaints feed into the letter grade, which the widget does not show. A free widget shows the customer reviews as of the day you built it; paid plans re-check your profile daily.
