What makes a BBB widget different from a Google review widget?

BBB customer reviews are a native 1–5 star system. Knowing how they differ from BBB's A+-to-F letter rating, how profile setup works, and how reviews are moderated avoids surprises after you embed.

BBB customer reviews vs the A+-to-F “BBB rating”

BBB has two separate signals, and this widget shows only one of them. The first is the 1–5 star customer reviews — written by your customers about their experience — with an overall customer-review average; that's what BlooTrue displays. The second is the A+-to-F letter “BBB rating”, which is BBB's own grade for how a business interacts with BBB (complaint history, transparency, time in business, accreditation status) — the widget does not show this letter rating or the accreditation seal. BlooTrue renders each customer review exactly as stars: a 5-star review shows 5 stars, a 3-star review shows 3, and the header shows your real BBB customer-review average and count. The header rating always comes from BBB's own published customer-review aggregate, never from averaging the individual cards on screen.

Where the reviews come from and how often they refresh

BlooTrue fetches the publicly-visible customer reviews from your BBB business profile on a server-side schedule — roughly once every 24 hours on paid plans — and caches the result. Your site never calls BBB directly, so visitor traffic to your page doesn't depend on BBB being reachable, and the widget loads instantly from cache. Only reviews that are public on your profile are included. Each review keeps its reviewer name, star rating, and text, and links back to your BBB business profile.

Accreditation, profile setup, and what shows up in the widget

You do not need to be a BBB Accredited Business to use this widget — it works with any public BBB business profile, accredited or not. Reviews only appear if your profile is public and has customer reviews. If your profile is brand new or has zero reviews, there's nothing for the widget to import yet — it will populate as soon as your first public customer review lands. Once your profile has reviews, the widget shows whatever is public: no more, no less. If a review disappears from your widget after a sync, it almost always means the customer deleted it or BBB removed it — the widget simply follows your profile's public state.

Moderation, review guidelines, and attribution

BBB moderates customer reviews under its review guidelines and removes spam, fraudulent submissions, and content that violates its policies. Because BlooTrue reads only your profile's public reviews, the widget automatically reflects those removals on the next sync — you never display content BBB has already taken down. Every card keeps the BBB mark and the reviewer's name, and clicking a review links back to your BBB business profile, so attribution stays intact. BlooTrue never fabricates a rating: an empty star-only review (a star rating with no written text) is still shown as a real review, and the header number is always BBB's own customer-review aggregate.

BBB tips for Google Sites

Google Sites' Embed component supports the BBB widget with no setup other than pasting the snippet URL.
For school or government Google Sites, confirm with your IT administrator that third-party iframes are allowed before embedding.

How Do I Install BlooTrue BBB on Google Sites?

Open Your Site at sites.google.com

Go to sites.google.com and open the site you are editing. In the left sidebar, click the page where you want the BBB reviews.

Works the same on free personal Google accounts and Google Workspace business sites.

Click Insert → Embed

In the right-hand Insert sidebar, click Embed (the </> icon). A dialog appears with two tabs: By URL and Embed code.

Switch to the Embed Code Tab and Paste

Click the Embed code tab — not the URL tab. The URL tab only auto-iframes a single public URL, which is not what we want here. Paste the BlooTrue BBB embed code into the field, click Next to preview, then click Insert.

First-time users sometimes paste into the URL tab and see a blank embed — switching to the Embed code tab fixes it.

Resize and Publish

The embed appears on the canvas inside its own resize box. Drag the bottom-right corner to set a generous height — the widget auto-resizes its contents within the iframe, but the outer iframe is full-width-constrained by the Google Sites resize handles. Aim for ~500px for a slider style or 700–900px for list / masonry / grid styles.

Click Publish in the top-right corner of the Google Sites editor to push the change live. Reviews auto-sync from BBB every 24 hours.

Technical note: Google Sites wraps every embed in its own sandboxed iframe — BlooTrue's loader detects this iframe-in-iframe case and renders correctly.

Where exactly do I paste the embed — the URL tab or the Embed code tab?▼

The Embed code tab. The Insert → Embed dialog has two tabs: By URL (for auto-iframe of a public URL) and Embed code (for raw HTML / script embeds). Paste the BlooTrue snippet into the Embed code tab. The URL tab will not work because it expects a single URL that returns a webpage, not an HTML / script snippet.

Will the embedded reviews help with Google Sites SEO?▼

Partially, with one honest caveat. BlooTrue auto-injects schema.org Review and AggregateRating JSON-LD inside the embed iframe, which Bing and DuckDuckGo crawlers index normally. Google Sites itself gives site owners limited control over schema.org JSON-LD on the parent page (because the parent HTML is generated by Google), so Google's own crawler may treat the JSON-LD as belonging to the iframe context.
