GoogleI’ve taken four courses with Guided Exposure: rock climbing, mountaineering (Glacier Peak), ski/splitboard touring, and AIARE 1 avalanche awareness and rescue. Each of these were excellent. I highly recommend Guided Exposure for anyone wanting professional, experienced, and certified guides with intimate knowledge of the Mt. Baker/North Cascade region.

GoogleI’ve taken multiple courses through Guided Exposure over the last couple of years, including AIARE 1 and 2 and AIARE Rescue Course, and have been thoroughly impressed with the depth of knowledge and quality of learning experiences. Jere, Jess and recently Katie, are professional, welcoming and exceptionally skilled in avalanche training and rescue. Class sizes are intentionally small for meaningful one on one instruction, and usually two instructors are involved for even more individualized guidance and support. Guided Exposure strongly encourages avalanche education, emphasizes back country safety and offers a wide range of courses to meet learners at every level. Additionally, guided services are offered, locally and abroad. Jere is well traveled and has experience guiding in numerous places. The website has a list of future trips while stopping by the office offers even more trip options and hype! I’ll continue using Guided Exposure for continuing education and trips. It’s hard to beat the camaraderie, expertise and skill-based learning offered here. 🎿
GoogleI did the AIARIE 1 course with Guided Exposure, and it was worth every penny! This was much more than just an avy course. Not only did I gain significant confidence and knowledge around avalanche terrain but also learned techniques on how to safely navigate the backcountry with a group. I am a better backcountry skier and partner as a result of this course. Furthermore, there were several new-to-backcountry students in this course who were on their first or second outing in their backcountry equipment. Many of the students did not know their gear very well or have experience skinning in the backcountry. The guides were very helpful as trusted advisors to help these students understand and gain confidence in their gear. The guides also had to help resolve a few gear malfunctions quickly, ensuring that each student was able to get the most out of the course.
