What is schema markup?

Schema markup is structured data that tells search engines like Google what your content is about. Review schema helps Google understand your business ratings and reviews, and Google can show star ratings for eligible pages, such as a product reviewed by its buyers. It does not show them for a business’s own reviews on its own site.

Will stars appear in Google search after I add this markup?

Only if the page is eligible. Google’s review-snippet guidelines (updated July 2026) exclude a business’s own reviews on its own pages, including reviews shown through a widget, and ratings aggregated from other websites. Eligible cases, such as a product reviewed by its buyers, can take a few weeks after a recrawl. Use the Rich Results Test to validate the markup and Search Console to monitor it.

Do I need actual reviews to use this?

Yes. Schema markup should only reflect real customer reviews and ratings on your website or business listings. The markup generated by this tool should match your actual review data for accuracy and to comply with Google's guidelines.

What's the difference between AggregateRating and Review schema?

AggregateRating shows the overall average rating and review count. Review schema contains details about individual reviews including author, date, rating, and review text. Using both together provides the most complete schema markup.

Can I use this for product reviews?

This tool is designed for business reviews. For product reviews, you would use the Product schema type instead. However, the JSON-LD structure is similar, so you can modify the schema type to match your needs.
