How to Add Reviews to Wix: Then Fix It Again on Mobile

The Wix install is genuinely a minute: Add, Embed Code, Embed HTML, paste. What catches people out is what happens after, and it catches them because Wix works differently from every other builder in this series. Wix keeps a separate mobile layout. Positioning and sizing an element on desktop does not position or size it on mobile; that is a second editor with its own arrangement. So a review widget that looks perfect on your laptop can be clipped, overlapping the section below it, or missing entirely for the majority of your visitors, because most small business traffic is on a phone. Budget the extra minute. The rest of this is the fixed-size frame and what it costs you in search.

Where Does the Code Go?

In the Wix editor click Add, choose Embed Code, then Embed HTML. An element appears on the canvas with an Enter Code button; click it, paste the snippet, choose Code rather than Website Address, and apply.

The Website Address option next to it expects a URL and renders that page in the frame. That is the wrong one for a widget snippet and it is the one people click first, because it is listed first and reads as simpler.

This works on the free Wix plan. Some Wix features are gated behind Premium, but the HTML Embed element is not one of them, so you can put reviews on a free Wix site.

Why Is the Widget Clipped or Floating in Space?

Because the embed is a sandboxed iframe with a fixed size, positioned by dragging its handles. It does not flow with the page or grow to fit whatever loads inside it. When you first paste, the default box is usually smaller than the reviews, so the content is clipped and an internal scrollbar appears.

Size it with the reviews actually loaded rather than while the frame is empty. Drag the handles until the content fits with a little room to spare, since review text length varies as new reviews arrive and a frame sized to the exact current height will clip next month.

Prefer a compact widget layout on Wix specifically. A tall review wall in a fixed box is a bad fit; a slider, a marquee or a small badge behaves much better because its height is predictable.

Why Does It Look Wrong on a Phone?

Because you have not fixed it there yet. Wix keeps a separate mobile layout, and elements carry independent positions and sizes in it. Switch to the mobile editor using the phone icon at the top of the Wix editor and you will find your embed placed automatically, usually at the wrong size and often overlapping whatever is beneath it.

Resize and reposition it there. Changes in the mobile editor do not affect desktop and vice versa, so you genuinely are doing the job twice. That is the tradeoff Wix makes for giving you pixel control on both.

This is the step to prioritise if you do only one thing. For a local business, mobile is usually most of the traffic, so a widget that is correct on desktop and broken on mobile is a widget that is broken for most people who see it.

Will Embedded Reviews Help Your Wix SEO?

Not directly. Content inside a sandboxed frame belongs to the frame's own document rather than to the page hosting it, so review markup rendered inside the embed describes that document and not your Wix URL. Star ratings in search results are not what this delivers on Wix.

This is a property of the platform rather than a limitation of any particular widget, and it is the same on Google Sites and inside a Notion embed. No widget can change it from inside a frame.

What it does deliver is the thing most Wix site owners actually need: a visitor who lands on the page and immediately sees third-party proof that the business is real. Judge it on conversion rather than on rankings.

Where Should the Widget Go on a Wix Page?

Directly above your contact form or booking button. Wix sites are overwhelmingly small local businesses, and the conversion event is a call, a booking or a form, so the reviews belong at the moment the visitor is deciding whether to go through with it.

A compact rating badge near the top of the homepage is worth having as well. Because the frame is fixed-size, a small badge is much easier to place consistently across desktop and mobile than a full review wall, and it costs you far less work in the mobile editor.

Avoid putting the widget inside a strip that already has a background image. Wix strips with imagery are common, and a boxed frame on top of a photo reads as pasted-on unless the widget background is matched deliberately.

Build the widget, choose a compact layout with predictable height, match the background to the Wix section it will sit in, and copy the embed code.

In the Wix editor: Add, Embed Code, Embed HTML, Enter Code, paste, apply. Drag the frame to the right size with the reviews loaded.

Then switch to the mobile editor with the phone icon and size and position it again there. Publish, and check the live URL on an actual phone rather than trusting the mobile preview.
