How to Add Reviews to Wix Studio: Breakpoints and Handover

Wix Studio is Wix rebuilt for people who build sites for other people, and both halves of that matter here. The technical half is that embeds still run in a sandboxed frame that does not measure its own content, and Studio gives you a proper breakpoint system, so the height has to be set at each one rather than once. The other half is that somebody else is going to own this site next month, and an embed is the element they are most likely to break by accident.

The Embed HTML Element

Add an Embed HTML element where the reviews should appear and paste the widget embed into it. The element renders the code inside a frame on the page.

The frame is sandboxed, which is what keeps a third-party script from interfering with the rest of the site. It also means the frame cannot measure the content inside it and grow to fit, so its height is whatever you set.

Set that height to the widget rendered height with a little slack for longer reviews, rather than to whatever looks right while the frame is empty.

Every Breakpoint Needs Sizing

Studio has a real breakpoint system rather than a desktop view and a mobile view. That is one of the reasons to use it, and it means the frame height is a per-breakpoint property.

A widget that shows three cards in a row on a wide screen stacks them at a narrow one, which roughly triples the height. A frame sized for the wide layout will crop two thirds of it on a phone.

Check each breakpoint you support before handing anything over. This is the kind of detail that gets noticed in agency work, because somebody else reviews the site.

Build for the Client Who Edits It Next

Studio sites get handed to clients, and a client editing a page does not know that the grey box is a review widget rather than an empty section. Deleting it or dragging it is a normal accident.

Give the section a clear name in the layers panel and keep the embed in its own section rather than nested among editable text. A distinct, labelled object survives client editing far better than one entangled with content.

Tell the client what it is and that it updates itself. A surprising amount of embed damage comes from somebody trying to edit the review text by hand because they assumed it was typed in.

If You Build Many Sites

An agency using Studio builds the same shapes repeatedly, and a reviews section is a good candidate for whatever reusable pattern the team keeps.

What must not be reused is the configured widget itself. Each client site needs its own embed pointing at that client profile, or one client reviews end up on another client site, which is the single worst outcome available here.

So reuse the layout and rebuild the embed per client. It takes a minute and it removes an entire class of mistake.

How Do You Build the Widget?

Paste the client Google, Trustpilot or Facebook profile URL, preview their real reviews and rating, then choose from over 100 layout styles and match the colours and fonts to the site design.
