OpenTable Review Widget for Google Sites — Free, Shows What the Official Widget Won't

BlooTrue's OpenTable Review Widget for Google Sites is a free embed that displays your verified-diner reviews on any new Google Sites page (sites.google.com) via the built-in Insert → Embed → Embed code feature. OpenTable's official website widget only takes reservations — it books tables but never displays reviews — so third-party widgets like BlooTrue are the only way to put OpenTable reviews into Google Sites. Every review comes from a verified diner who booked through OpenTable and honored the reservation, and the widget header shows your real 1–5 star OpenTable average — no conversion, no percentages. It works on free personal Google accounts and inside Google Workspace business and enterprise sites at no extra cost. There is no Google Sites add-on, no Chrome extension, no Workspace Marketplace approval, and no OpenTable API access required. The widget renders inside a sandboxed iframe because Google Sites wraps every embed in its own iframe — BlooTrue's loader detects this iframe-in-iframe case and works correctly. Set a generous embed height in the editor so the widget can auto-resize within the iframe without hitting a scroll cap. 100+ widget styles (slider, marquee, grid, list, masonry, badge, compact badge) with light and dark themes plus a free custom color picker. SEO note: Google Sites has limited control over schema.org JSON-LD because the parent page is Google's, but BlooTrue still emits Review JSON-LD inside the embed iframe — covers Bing and DuckDuckGo.

How to embed OpenTable reviews on Google Sites in 60 seconds

  1. Open your site at sites.google.com and click the page where you want reviews.
  2. In the right sidebar, click Insert → Embed (the </> icon).
  3. Switch to the Embed code tab (not URL), paste the BlooTrue OpenTable embed, then click Next → Insert.
  4. Drag and resize the embed, set a generous height, then click Publish in the top right.

Why doesn't the official OpenTable widget show reviews?

OpenTable's first-party widget is built for one job: taking reservations. It puts a booking form on your site, but it does not display the star ratings and verified-diner reviews your restaurant has earned — OpenTable keeps those on its own marketplace pages. Third-party widgets are the standard way Google Sites owners surface their OpenTable reviews on their own pages — BlooTrue is the free option in that category, and it works alongside the official reservation widget rather than replacing it.

Get golden stars in Google search results

On paid plans, every BlooTrue widget injects schema.org Review + AggregateRating JSON-LD straight into your page — so Google and AI answer engines can read your ratings and reviews as structured data, and your pages become eligible for star-rating rich snippets. (Google treats a business's own reviews on its own site as "self-serving" and doesn't guarantee stars for them — product/service reviews are the most reliably eligible; either way your reviews become machine-readable for search and AI.)

4.9
(127)
This is what your customers see when they Google you — powered by BlooTrue's JSON-LD.
  • Zero config — it just works

    The moment you embed a BlooTrue widget, JSON-LD markup is injected automatically. No extra tags, no developer time.

  • Google Rich Results valid

    Every field follows Google's current structured-data guidelines — LocalBusiness, AggregateRating, and Review — so it passes the Rich Results Test out of the box.

  • Standalone schema endpoint Paid plans

    For star ratings to appear under your parent page's blue link in Google, search engines need the schema on the parent page itself — iframe-embedded schema is not propagated to the host page. Paid plans expose a JSON-LD endpoint per widget that you drop into your<head>for SERP rich snippets on product, landing, or legacy pages. Schema markup is a paid feature: free-plan widgets display your reviews but don't emit JSON-LD, so free pages aren't eligible for rich snippets.

What gets injected automaticallylive
<script type="application/ld+json">
{
  "@type": "LocalBusiness",
  "name": "Your Business",
  "aggregateRating": {
    "ratingValue": "4.9",
    "reviewCount": "127"
  }
}
</script>

Star-snippet visibility is ultimately decided by Google — valid schema is a prerequisite, not a guarantee. BlooTrue ships the markup; Google decides which queries get stars. For SERP rich snippets to appear under your parent page's link, the schema must be served on the parent page itself — that's what the standalone JSON-LD endpoint (paid plans) is for. Schema markup is a paid feature, so free-plan widgets display your reviews but don't emit JSON-LD. Independent studies find pages with valid review schema see materially higher click-through rates than plain listings.

Why Use BlooTrue for OpenTable on Google Sites?

The only free way to put OpenTable reviews on a new Google Sites page — the official widget only takes reservations.

Shows Reviews, Not Just a Booking Form

OpenTable's official widget lets diners reserve a table but never displays your reviews. BlooTrue fills that gap on Google Sites — it pulls verified-diner reviews from your public OpenTable restaurant page automatically, so diners deciding to book see real feedback first.

No Add-on or Extension Required

Pure HTML embed. No Workspace Marketplace add-on, no Chrome extension, no admin approval. Pastes straight into the built-in Insert → Embed → Embed code tab.

Works on Free + Workspace Sites

Works the same on free personal Google accounts and on Google Workspace Business / Enterprise sites. The Insert → Embed feature is identical across both — handy for restaurant groups on a shared Workspace domain.

No OpenTable API Access Required

Works with any public OpenTable restaurant page — just paste your restaurant URL (e.g. opentable.com/r/your-restaurant). No developer application, no API quotas, no partnership required.

How Do I Install BlooTrue OpenTable on Google Sites?

Takes less than a minute. No coding, no add-on, no OpenTable API access.

1

Open Your Site at sites.google.com

Go to sites.google.com and open the site you are editing. In the left sidebar, click the page where you want the OpenTable reviews.

Works the same on free personal Google accounts and Google Workspace business sites.

2

Click Insert → Embed

In the right-hand Insert sidebar, click Embed (the </> icon). A dialog appears with two tabs: By URL and Embed code.

3

Switch to the Embed Code Tab and Paste

Click the Embed code tab — not the URL tab. The URL tab only auto-iframes a single public URL, which is not what we want here. Paste the BlooTrue OpenTable embed code into the field, click Next to preview, then click Insert.

First-time users sometimes paste into the URL tab and see a blank embed — switching to the Embed code tab fixes it.

4

Resize and Publish

The embed appears on the canvas inside its own resize box. Drag the bottom-right corner to set a generous height — the widget auto-resizes its contents within the iframe, but the outer iframe is full-width-constrained by the Google Sites resize handles. Aim for ~500px for a slider style or 700–900px for list / masonry / grid styles.

Click Publish in the top-right corner of the Google Sites editor to push the change live. Reviews auto-sync from OpenTable every 24 hours.

Technical note: Google Sites wraps every embed in its own sandboxed iframe — BlooTrue's loader detects this iframe-in-iframe case and renders correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the BlooTrue OpenTable widget free for Google Sites?

Yes. BlooTrue is completely free for Google Sites. No add-on install, no Chrome extension, unlimited widget views, and no sign-up required to preview. The free plan shows your OpenTable reviews with BlooTrue branding in the footer.

Does this work on the new Google Sites or only the legacy Classic Sites?

The new Google Sites at sites.google.com — the modern Drive-based version. The legacy Classic Google Sites was deprecated by Google and migrated off years ago. BlooTrue uses the built-in Insert → Embed → Embed code feature, which only exists in the new Google Sites.

Will it work in a Google Workspace business or enterprise site?

Yes. Google Sites is included with every Google Workspace plan (Business Starter through Enterprise) at no extra cost, and the Insert → Embed → Embed code feature is identical to the personal-account version. No Workspace admin approval is required because the embed is pure HTML — there is no Marketplace add-on to whitelist. That matters for restaurant groups running their locations on a shared Workspace domain.

Does OpenTable offer its own review widget for Google Sites?

No. OpenTable's official website widget only takes reservations — it lets diners book a table, but it never displays your reviews, on Google Sites or anywhere else. Only third-party widgets like BlooTrue can put OpenTable reviews into Google Sites — BlooTrue pulls verified-diner reviews from any public OpenTable restaurant page and turns them into a paste-ready Google Sites embed.

Why does my BlooTrue embed look wrapped in a frame on Google Sites?

Google Sites wraps every embed in its own sandboxed iframe — that is how the Insert → Embed feature works for every site, not a BlooTrue quirk. BlooTrue's widget loader detects this iframe-in-iframe case and renders correctly inside it. Set a generous height on the canvas so the widget can fill it without scroll, and the widget itself has a transparent background so it blends with any Google Sites theme.

Where exactly do I paste the embed — the URL tab or the Embed code tab?

The Embed code tab. The Insert → Embed dialog has two tabs: By URL (for auto-iframe of a public URL) and Embed code (for raw HTML / script embeds). Paste the BlooTrue snippet into the Embed code tab. The URL tab will not work because it expects a single URL that returns a webpage, not an HTML / script snippet.

Will the embedded reviews help with Google Sites SEO?

Partially, with one honest caveat. BlooTrue auto-injects schema.org Review and AggregateRating JSON-LD inside the embed iframe, which Bing and DuckDuckGo crawlers index normally. Google Sites itself gives site owners limited control over schema.org JSON-LD on the parent page (because the parent HTML is generated by Google), so Google's own crawler may treat the JSON-LD as belonging to the iframe context. The widget still renders rich review content as visible text on the page, contributing to topical relevance.
