G2 reviews on a software company's Blogger blog

Some software teams run a product blog or release notes on Blogger because it is free and hosted by Google. Blogger offers two homes for a G2 widget, a gadget in the layout or the HTML of a single post, and each one suits a different kind of reader.

Should G2 reviews go in the Blogger sidebar or below the header?

Below the header if you want the reviews read, the sidebar if you only want G2's rating present on every page. In a narrow sidebar, written G2 reviews become tall, thin columns that few readers scroll through.

When does a single Blogger post deserve its own G2 widget?

When the post is where a buyer makes up their mind, such as a comparison with a competitor or a guide to choosing a tool in your category. Paste the code into that post in HTML view, so the review cards land next to the argument they support.

Example

An invoicing tool with a Blogger blog

The team writes tips for freelancers and posts release notes, but most new readers arrive at two posts comparing invoicing apps. Rather than a site-wide gadget, it pastes the G2 widget code into those two posts in HTML view, just above the closing paragraph, and publishes without switching back to Compose. Every other post stays as it was.

SEO + AI schema · paid plans

Review schema markup, on paid plans

Paid widgets add schema.org Review and AggregateRating JSON-LD to the page they sit on, so search engines and AI answer engines can read your G2 reviews as structured data. Google does not show review stars for reviews a business shows about itself, so the gain is readability, not stars. The free plan shows the reviews without the schema. See how the schema works

How to Add G2 Reviews to Blogger

Connect your G2 profile in BlooTrue, pick a style, then paste one embed code into the HTML/JavaScript gadget on Blogger and publish.

  1. 1

    In Blogger, open Layout.

  2. 2

Click Add a Gadget where the reviews should appear and choose HTML/JavaScript.

  3. 3

Paste the BlooTrue embed code and save the gadget.

  4. 4

Save the layout arrangement — the widget renders on the blog.

For a single post instead of the layout, switch the post editor to HTML view before pasting — Compose view escapes the code.

Where the Code Goes on Blogger

On Blogger the snippet lives in an HTML/JavaScript gadget, added from the Layout page through Add a Gadget in the section you choose.

Layout shows only a box with the gadget's title, never the reviews; the blog itself renders them once you save the gadget and then the layout arrangement. Width follows the section: a sidebar gadget is narrow, while a gadget below the header spans the full column. To put the widget inside one post instead, switch the post editor to HTML view first, because Compose view converts the code into escaped text.

If the widget does not show on Blogger

  • Code appearing as text on the blog means it was pasted in Compose view; open the post in HTML view, paste again and update the post.
  • If the reviews are missing after saving the gadget, check that you also saved the layout arrangement; the gadget change is not live until then.
  • Reviews look cramped in the sidebar? Move the HTML/JavaScript gadget to a section below the header so it gets the full width.

Where G2 reviews help most on Blogger

Software companies on Blogger often have big content sites: docs, a blog, landing pages built by the marketing team.

Put the G2 widget on the home page, the pricing page and every comparison or alternatives page, where buyers do the most checking. Posts that rank for problems your product solves can end with a compact widget beside a trial link. Documentation rarely needs it, because readers there are already users. If the pricing page is assembled from page-builder blocks, give the widget its own block rather than squeezing it into a pricing table cell, where it would be cut to the width of one plan.

About G2 reviews in this widget

Your G2 widget lists the reviews from your G2 product profile and puts the star rating and review count G2 reports for that profile in the header. Both figures are read from G2, not averaged from the reviews on the page. G2 verifies the people who leave those ratings, which is why software buyers check them before booking a demo. The mistake to avoid is treating a G2 badge as an embed. G2 badges are image files with no review text behind them, so a visitor learns nothing beyond the logo. The widget shows the reviews themselves.

G2 Widget on Blogger — FAQ

Is the BlooTrue G2 review widget free for Blogger?
Yes. BlooTrue is completely free to embed G2 reviews on Blogger. No plugin, no recurring fee, unlimited views. The free plan shows your reviews with BlooTrue branding in the footer; paid plans remove the branding.
How do I install the widget on Blogger?
In Blogger, open Layout. Click Add a Gadget where the reviews should appear and choose HTML/JavaScript. Paste the BlooTrue embed code and save the gadget. Save the layout arrangement — the widget renders on the blog.
Anything specific to Blogger worth knowing before I embed?
For a single post instead of the layout, switch the post editor to HTML view before pasting — Compose view escapes the code.
Where should I place G2 reviews on Blogger for the biggest lift?
The sidebar for every-page visibility, or a full-width gadget below the header.
Do the reviews stay up to date automatically?
Paid plans auto-sync your G2 reviews daily, so the widget always shows your latest 5-star reviews without touching Blogger again. The free plan shows the reviews imported at setup.
We have two products listed on G2, can each one get its own widget?
Each widget reads one G2 product profile, the page at g2.com/products/your-product/reviews, so two products means two widgets with two URLs. The free plan includes a single widget, so start with the product your site promotes most; the header will carry that product's own G2 rating and review count.
Which number sits at the top of the G2 widget?
The star rating and review count from your G2 product profile, as G2 publishes them. BlooTrue does not build a new average from the G2 reviews it displays. Since the free plan lists only your G2 reviews of four stars and up, the header can read lower than the reviews under it, because G2 counts the lower ratings too.
What do I give up by using the free plan for G2 reviews?
Two things. A small BlooTrue badge appears on the widget, and the widget keeps the G2 reviews present when you created it rather than fetching new ones. There is no card to enter and no view limit. Paid plans remove the badge and check your G2 profile every day for reviews added since.
