Google Play reviews in a Divi layout

Divi's Theme Builder can put one module on every page at once, which is tempting with a fresh Google Play widget. Play reviews only help where a visitor is deciding whether to install, so the placement needs restraint, and the source itself needs a check before you build.

Should Google Play reviews go in a Divi Theme Builder template?

Only in a template limited to the app's own pages. A global header or footer template puts the Play rating on every page using it, including pages that have nothing to do with installing the app.

For a single download page, a Code module in that page's own layout is simpler and easier to remove later. Never use a Text module for it; Divi runs text through the visual editor and the script breaks.

Is Google Play the right source if my Divi site promotes a web app?

Only if the app is published on Google Play. The widget reads a Play Store listing, so a web app with no listing has nothing for it to read.

The Google source is no substitute: it reads a Business Profile, and Google grants those only to businesses with face-to-face customers. A software company without premises is better served by a platform built for software reviews, such as Capterra.

Review schema markup, on paid plans

Paid widgets add schema.org Review and AggregateRating JSON-LD to the page they sit on, so search engines and AI answer engines can read your Google Play reviews as structured data. Google does not show review stars for reviews a business shows about itself, so the gain is readability, not stars. The free plan shows the reviews without the schema. See how the schema works

The same widget, built from whichever platform your reviews live on. Free plan on every one.

How to Add Google Play Reviews to Divi

Connect your Google Play profile in BlooTrue, pick a style, then paste one embed code into the Code module on Divi and publish.

  1. 1

Edit the page with the Divi Builder.

  2. 2

Add a Code module where the reviews should appear.

  3. 3

Paste the BlooTrue embed code into the module's content box.

  4. 4

Save — the widget renders on the front end.

Use the Code module, not a Text module — Divi's text module runs the content through the visual editor and breaks scripts.

Where the Code Goes on Divi

Divi needs the snippet in a Code module, not a Text module: Text runs content through the visual editor and breaks scripts, while Code outputs the content box as written.

The front-end Visual Builder usually renders the reviews in place, the back-end builder shows only the code box, and the live page is the final check. The module fills its column, so a 1-column row under the header slider gives it full width, and spacing and max-width live in the module's Design tab. Divi's performance settings and any WordPress cache plugin can keep serving the old page.

If the widget does not show on Divi

  • Reviews missing after saving? A cache plugin or Divi's Theme Options performance settings may be serving the old page; clear both caches and reload.
  • If the code shows as text, the snippet went into a Text module; delete it and paste into a Code module, which does not process content.
  • Reviews pinned to a narrow column mean the module was added to a multi-column row; move the Code module into a 1-column row.

Where Google Play reviews help most on Divi

App companies on Divi often run a blog and a help centre next to the landing pages.

Put the Google Play widget on the home page and on any page that ranks for searches like best app for a task, where visitors are comparing options. Help articles are read by people who already installed the app, so leave the widget off them. Posts that explain a problem the app solves bring in readers who check ratings before installing, and a compact widget beside the store link at the end of those posts meets them at that moment.

About Google Play reviews in this widget

The Google Play widget puts your app's Play Store rating out of 5, its review count and the user reviews from its store listing on your site, all read from Google Play. Reviews on Google Play come from Google accounts that installed the app, and the header figure is Google's, not one the widget works out. Site owners' usual mistake is picking the Google source instead of Google Play. Google reviews belong to a Business Profile, the map listing for a shop or office, and are unrelated to your app. Choose Google Play and paste the store listing URL.

Google Play Widget on Divi — FAQ

Is the BlooTrue Google Play review widget free for Divi?
Yes. BlooTrue is completely free to embed Google Play reviews on Divi. No plugin, no recurring fee, unlimited views. The free plan shows your reviews with BlooTrue branding in the footer; paid plans remove the branding.
How do I install the widget on Divi?
Edit the page with the Divi Builder. Add a Code module where the reviews should appear. Paste the BlooTrue embed code into the module's content box. Save — the widget renders on the front end.
Anything specific to Divi worth knowing before I embed?
Use the Code module, not a Text module — Divi's text module runs the content through the visual editor and breaks scripts.
Where should I place Google Play reviews on Divi for the biggest lift?
A 1-column row directly under the header slider.
Do the reviews stay up to date automatically?
Paid plans auto-sync your Google Play reviews daily, so the widget always shows your latest 5-star reviews without touching Divi again. The free plan shows the reviews imported at setup.
What Google Play link does the builder want for my app?
Your app's store listing, whose address starts with play.google.com/store/apps/details?id= followed by the app's package name, for example com.example.myapp. That listing holds the rating, the review count and the user reviews the widget reads. Paste it, pick a layout and copy the one-line embed onto your download page.
Do my iOS App Store reviews show in the Google Play widget?
No. The Google Play widget reads one thing, your app's Play Store listing, so its header carries the Play rating and count and its list holds the reviews Android users left there. Apple's store is a different platform with its own reviews, and nothing from it can enter this widget; use it on the Android download page.
Our last update brought a wave of one-star Play reviews, will they show on my site?
Not on the free plan, which lists only Google Play reviews rated four stars and above. The store rating in the header is a separate matter: it is the figure from your listing, so if that rating fell after the release, the header shows the lower number the next time the widget refreshes, and free widgets never refresh.
