Canva TripAdvisor Review Widget — Free Embed for Canva Sites, Fills TripAdvisor's Embed Gap

BlooTrue's TripAdvisor Review Widget for Canva is a free embed for Canva Sites — drops into any Canva design via the built-in Embed app. TripAdvisor doesn't ship an official embed widget at all; its Fusion API is gated for partner apps, not merchant self-embeds. The Canva Embed app + BlooTrue is the only path to live TripAdvisor reviews on a Canva-published site. Canva Sites is the publishing feature Canva launched in 2023 and expanded in 2024 that lets you turn any Canva design into a one-page or multi-page published website with a free *.my.canva.site subdomain (custom domains on Canva Pro / Teams). The Embed app ships built into every Canva account — no marketplace install, no Canva Pro requirement to use either the Embed app or Canva Sites publishing. Works with any public TripAdvisor listing — no TripAdvisor API key, no TripAdvisor Fusion application, no business-level claim required. Note: not every Canva template starts as a Sites design — use Convert to Website on any existing design to make it publishable.

How to embed TripAdvisor reviews on Canva Sites in 60 seconds

  1. Open your Canva Sites design (or use Convert to Website on any existing design).
  2. Click Apps in the left sidebar, search "Embed", select the built-in Embed app.
  3. Paste the BlooTrue embed code into the Embed code field (not the URL field) and click Add to design.
  4. Position and resize the embed on the canvas, then click Publish website.

Important: Canva Sites is design-first, not responsive-first

The Canva canvas is a fixed-size design surface, so the BlooTrue embed renders at whatever pixel dimensions you set in the editor — it does not auto-fluidly resize. Canva does support mobile-specific layouts: switch to the mobile view in the editor and resize the embed independently for that breakpoint. Pick a single-column widget style (List, Compact Badge, Slider) for the mobile canvas.

JSON-LD honesty on Canva Sites

Canva Sites does not currently let you control the parent-page schema or inject custom JSON-LD into the document head. The BlooTrue embed iframe still emits its own Review and AggregateRating JSON-LD inside its document, which is indexable, but parent-document schema generally carries more rich-snippet weight in Google.

Get golden stars in Google search results

On paid plans, every BlooTrue widget injects schema.org Review + AggregateRating JSON-LD straight into your page — so Google and AI answer engines can read your ratings and reviews as structured data, and your pages become eligible for star-rating rich snippets. (Google treats a business's own reviews on its own site as "self-serving" and doesn't guarantee stars for them — product/service reviews are the most reliably eligible; either way your reviews become machine-readable for search and AI.)

4.9
(127)
This is what your customers see when they Google you — powered by BlooTrue's JSON-LD.
  • Zero config — it just works

    The moment you embed a BlooTrue widget, JSON-LD markup is injected automatically. No extra tags, no developer time.

  • Google Rich Results valid

    Every field follows Google's current structured-data guidelines — LocalBusiness, AggregateRating, and Review — so it passes the Rich Results Test out of the box.

  • Standalone schema endpoint Paid plans

    For star ratings to appear under your parent page's blue link in Google, search engines need the schema on the parent page itself — iframe-embedded schema is not propagated to the host page. Paid plans expose a JSON-LD endpoint per widget that you drop into your<head>for SERP rich snippets on product, landing, or legacy pages. Schema markup is a paid feature: free-plan widgets display your reviews but don't emit JSON-LD, so free pages aren't eligible for rich snippets.

  "@type": "LocalBusiness",
  "name": "Your Business",
  "aggregateRating": {
    "ratingValue": "4.9",
    "reviewCount": "127"
  }
}
</script>

Star-snippet visibility is ultimately decided by Google — valid schema is a prerequisite, not a guarantee. BlooTrue ships the markup; Google decides which queries get stars. For SERP rich snippets to appear under your parent page's link, the schema must be served on the parent page itself — that's what the standalone JSON-LD endpoint (paid plans) is for. Schema markup is a paid feature, so free-plan widgets display your reviews but don't emit JSON-LD. Independent studies find pages with valid review schema see materially higher click-through rates than plain listings.

Why Use BlooTrue for TripAdvisor on Canva Sites?

The only free way to put TripAdvisor reviews on a Canva-published site — TripAdvisor itself doesn't offer an embed.

Fills TripAdvisor’s Missing Embed

TripAdvisor doesn’t publish an official embed widget for merchants — anywhere. The Canva Embed app + BlooTrue is the only path to live TripAdvisor reviews on a Canva-published site.

Works on the Free Canva Tier

Both the Embed app and Canva Sites publishing are included on the free Canva plan. Publish a Canva site with TripAdvisor reviews at *.my.canva.site for $0/month — Canva Pro is only required for custom domains.

No Marketplace Install

The Embed app ships built into every Canva account. No third-party marketplace install, no permission scopes, no recurring fee. Just paste the BlooTrue embed code and click Add to design.

No TripAdvisor API Key Required

Works with any public TripAdvisor listing. No TripAdvisor Fusion application, no API quotas, no business-level claim required.

What makes a TripAdvisor widget different from a Google review widget?

TripAdvisor is a native star platform built for travel businesses. Knowing how its bubble ratings, listing setup, and review moderation work avoids surprises after you embed.

How BlooTrue shows your real TripAdvisor star ratings

TripAdvisor is a native star platform: every traveler review carries a 1–5 “bubble” rating, and each listing has an overall average. BlooTrue shows those ratings exactly as stars — no conversion, no percentages, nothing invented. A 5-bubble review renders as 5 stars, a 3-bubble review as 3, and the widget header shows your listing's real TripAdvisor average and review count. The result is a TripAdvisor widget that reads exactly like your Google or Yelp widget. The header rating always comes from TripAdvisor's own published aggregate, never from averaging the individual cards on screen.

Where the reviews come from and how often they refresh

BlooTrue fetches the publicly-visible reviews from your TripAdvisor listing on a server-side schedule — roughly once every 24 hours on paid plans — and caches the result. Your site never calls TripAdvisor directly, so visitor traffic to your page doesn't depend on TripAdvisor being reachable, and the widget loads instantly from cache. Only reviews that are public on your listing are included. Each review keeps its reviewer name, photo, bubble rating, and text, and links back to your TripAdvisor listing.

Your listing setup and what shows up in the widget

Reviews only appear if your TripAdvisor listing is public and has reviews. If your listing is brand new or has zero reviews, there's nothing for the widget to import yet — it will populate as soon as your first public traveler review lands. Once your listing has reviews, the widget shows whatever your listing shows publicly: no more, no less. If a review disappears from your widget after a sync, it almost always means the traveler deleted it or TripAdvisor removed it — the widget simply follows your listing's public state.

Moderation, review guidelines, and attribution

TripAdvisor moderates reviews under its content guidelines and removes spam, fraudulent submissions, and content that violates its policies. Because BlooTrue reads only your listing's public reviews, the widget automatically reflects those removals on the next sync — you never display content TripAdvisor has already taken down. Every card keeps the TripAdvisor mark and the reviewer's name, and clicking a review links back to your TripAdvisor listing, so attribution stays intact. BlooTrue never fabricates a rating: an empty star-only review (a bubble rating with no written text) is still shown as a real review, and the header number is always TripAdvisor's own aggregate.

TripAdvisor tips for Canva

  • Canva Websites supports the TripAdvisor widget via the Embed element — paste the snippet URL into the embed prompt.
  • TripAdvisor's widget is the only external review widget that renders cleanly inside Canva's mobile preview without scrollbars.
  • If you publish your Canva site to a custom domain, the TripAdvisor widget continues working without any reconfiguration.

How Do I Install BlooTrue TripAdvisor on Canva Sites?

Takes less than a minute. No marketplace install, no Canva Pro required, no TripAdvisor API key.

1

Open Your Canva Sites Design

Open the Canva design you plan to publish as a website. Any Canva design type can be turned into a published site via Convert to Website — start from a Website template, or convert an existing design (poster, presentation, doc) into a Canva Site.

Not every Canva template starts as a Sites design — Convert to Website is what makes it publishable.

2

Open the Built-in Embed App

Click Apps in the left sidebar of the Canva editor, search for "Embed", and select the built-in Embed app. No marketplace install required — the Embed app ships in every Canva account, free or paid.

3

Paste the Embed Code (Not the URL)

Build your widget in the configurator above (paste your TripAdvisor listing URL, e.g. tripadvisor.com/your-listing-slug) and click Copy Code. Back in the Canva Embed app, paste the snippet into the Embed code field — not the URL field. The Embed app supports raw HTML, which is what BlooTrue ships.

Click Add to design. The widget renders inline on your Canva canvas as an iframe.

4

Position and Publish

Position the embed on your canvas and resize it the way you would any Canva element. Canva Sites is design-first, so the embed renders at the exact pixel size you set — switch to the mobile view (phone icon at the top of the canvas) and resize independently for smaller screens.

Click Publish website. Your TripAdvisor reviews go live at your *.my.canva.site URL on the free tier, or at your custom domain if you're on Canva Pro / Teams.

Reviews auto-sync from TripAdvisor every 24 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the BlooTrue TripAdvisor widget free for Canva?

Yes. BlooTrue is completely free for Canva Sites. No marketplace install, no Canva Pro requirement, no view caps on any plan, no sign-up required to preview. The free plan shows your TripAdvisor reviews with BlooTrue branding in the footer.

What is Canva Sites and how do I publish one?

Canva Sites is the publishing feature Canva launched in 2023 and expanded in 2024 — it turns any Canva design into a one-page or multi-page published website. Open your design, click Convert to Website if it isn’t already a Sites design, then click Publish website. Free Canva accounts get a *.my.canva.site subdomain; Canva Pro and Teams unlock custom domains.

Will the Embed app work without Canva Pro?

Yes. Both the Embed app and Canva Sites publishing are available on the free Canva tier. You can publish a Canva site with embedded TripAdvisor reviews to a *.my.canva.site URL at $0/month. Canva Pro is only required for custom domains and brand-kit features.

Does TripAdvisor offer its own embed widget for Canva?

No. TripAdvisor does not provide an official embed widget for businesses to display their reviews on a Canva site or anywhere else. TripAdvisor's Fusion API is gated and primarily intended for partner apps, not merchant self-embeds. The Canva Embed app + BlooTrue is the only path to live TripAdvisor reviews on a Canva-published site.

Why does the embed render at a fixed size on Canva?

Canva Sites is design-first — every element on your page sits on a fixed-size canvas like the rest of the design, not on a responsive web layout. The BlooTrue embed therefore renders at whatever pixel size you set inside the Canva editor. Position and size it carefully, and use Canva’s mobile-specific layout view to give it a different size on smaller screens.

How do I make the widget look right on mobile in Canva Sites?

Switch to the mobile view in the Canva editor (phone icon at the top of the canvas) and resize the BlooTrue embed independently for that breakpoint. Pick a single-column widget style — List, Compact Badge, or Slider — for the mobile layout, since Grid and Masonry layouts need more horizontal space than a phone canvas provides.

Will Google see the JSON-LD markup on a Canva Sites page?

Honest answer: Canva Sites doesn’t let you control the parent-page schema or inject custom <script type="application/ld+json"> at the page level. The BlooTrue embed iframe still emits Review and AggregateRating JSON-LD inside its own document, which is indexable, but Google generally weights schema in the parent document more heavily. If rich-snippet eligibility is your top SEO concern, a CMS that exposes the document head (WordPress, Shopify, Webflow) gives you more control than Canva Sites does today.
