Why Use BlooTrue for Facebook on Ecwid?

The only free way to put Facebook reviews on your Ecwid (by Lightspeed) store — Facebook itself doesn't offer an embed.

Fills Facebook's Missing Embed

Facebook doesn't publish an official embed widget for merchants. BlooTrue is the free, paste-and-go alternative — pulls reviews from your public Facebook page automatically.

Dual-Mode Install

Standalone Ecwid Instant Site? Use the storefront editor's Code element. Ecwid embedded inside Wix / WordPress / Squarespace? Paste on the host page instead.

Works on Every Ecwid Plan

Ecwid by Lightspeed Free, Venture, Business, Unlimited — all supported. The widget is pure HTML; no plan tier required.

No Facebook API Key Required

Works with any public Facebook Page. No Facebook Fusion application, no API quotas, no business-level claim required.

What makes a Facebook widget different from a Google review widget?

Facebook's recommendation system works differently from star-based platforms like Google. Knowing how recommendations become stars, and how Page moderation works, avoids surprises after you embed.

How BlooTrue turns Facebook recommendations into star ratings

Facebook retired numeric star ratings in 2018. Instead, visitors tap Recommends or Doesn't recommend and write a short comment, and the Page shows a percentage of people who recommend it. BlooTrue normalizes that into the star format your other widgets use: each “Recommends” renders as a 5-star review, each “Doesn't recommend” as 1 star, and the Page's overall recommendation percentage becomes a clean 0–5 star header rating. The result is a Facebook widget that looks and reads exactly like your Google or Yelp widget — no confusing percentages on your site. The header rating always comes from Facebook's own published aggregate, never from averaging the individual cards.

Where the recommendations come from and how often they refresh

BlooTrue fetches the publicly-visible recommendations from your Facebook Page on a server-side schedule — roughly once every 24 hours on paid plans — and caches the result. Your site never calls Facebook directly, so visitor traffic to your page doesn't depend on Facebook being reachable, and the widget loads instantly from cache. Only recommendations that are public on your Page are included; anything set to private or hidden by the Page owner is never pulled. Each recommendation keeps its reviewer name, photo, and comment, and links back to your Facebook Page.

Turning on recommendations and what shows up in the widget

Recommendations only appear if your Page has the Reviews / Recommendations section enabled and public. If your Page is brand new or has recommendations switched off, there's nothing for the widget to import yet — turn the section on in your Page settings and the widget will populate as soon as your first public recommendation lands. Once enabled, the widget shows whatever your Page shows publicly: no more, no less. If a recommendation disappears from your widget after a sync, it almost always means the reviewer deleted it or Facebook removed it — the widget simply follows your Page's public state.

Moderation, Community Standards, and attribution

Facebook moderates recommendations under its Community Standards and removes spam, hate speech, and content that violates its policies. Because BlooTrue reads only your Page's public recommendations, the widget automatically reflects those removals on the next sync — you never display content Facebook has already taken down. Every card keeps the Facebook mark and the reviewer's name, and clicking a review links back to your Facebook Page, so attribution stays intact. BlooTrue never fabricates a rating: an empty “Recommends” with no comment is still shown as a real recommendation, and the header number is always Facebook's own aggregate.

Facebook tips for Ecwid

  • Ecwid's storefront customization area accepts the Facebook widget snippet — embed it in the footer or About page.
  • The Facebook widget works alongside Ecwid's built-in product reviews without competing for visual attention.
  • For Ecwid stores embedded inside another site (WordPress, Wix, etc.), the Facebook widget can live on the parent site instead of inside Ecwid.

How Do I Install BlooTrue Facebook on Ecwid?

Less than a minute. Works for both standalone Instant Sites and embedded-Ecwid setups.

1

Open the Ecwid Storefront Editor

In your Ecwid (Ecwid by Lightspeed) control panel, open Sales Channels → Storefront, then click Edit Site to launch the storefront editor.

This is the path for a standalone Ecwid Instant Site. If your Ecwid store is embedded inside another host site, skip to step 4.

2

Add a Code Element

On the page where you want Facebook reviews to appear, click + Add Element, scroll to the Code element, and drop it into the layout.

3

Paste in the HTML Field

Click the placed Code element, paste the BlooTrue embed code into the HTML field, and click outside the field to save.

Click Publish. Your Facebook reviews are now live on the standalone Ecwid Instant Site.

Reviews auto-sync from Facebook every 24 hours.

4

Embedded Ecwid: Paste on the Host Page Instead

Most Ecwid merchants run embedded mode — Ecwid is the shopping cart component inside a Wix, WordPress, Squarespace, or plain HTML host site. Paste the BlooTrue embed on the host page's HTML widget instead, alongside the Ecwid storefront component.

  • Wix: drop a Custom Code or HTML iframe element next to the Ecwid Store component, paste, save, publish.
  • WordPress: use a Custom HTML block on the page that holds the Ecwid embed, paste, update.
  • Squarespace: add a Code Block to the page next to the Ecwid embed, paste, save.
  • Plain HTML site: paste the embed in the page's HTML directly.

The host page is the URL Google indexes, so SEO rich snippets attach to your real domain.

Facebook Review Widget for Ecwid (by Lightspeed) — Free, Fills Facebook's Embed Gap

BlooTrue's Facebook Review Widget for Ecwid is a free, app-free embed that displays your Facebook reviews on any Ecwid (Ecwid by Lightspeed) store. Facebook does not provide an official embed widget for merchants — its Fusion API is gated for partner apps like Apple Maps and Trivago, not for self-service merchant embeds. BlooTrue fills that gap by pulling reviews from any public Facebook business page and turning them into a paste-ready Ecwid embed. Ecwid is unusual compared to BigCommerce or Shopify: it's primarily designed to be embedded inside other websites (Wix, WordPress, Squarespace, Weebly, plain HTML) rather than be a standalone store. So the install path branches. For a standalone Ecwid Instant Site (Ecwid-hosted storefront with its own URL), paste the BlooTrue embed via the storefront editor's Code element. For embedded-Ecwid setups (the more common path), paste the embed on the host page's HTML widget instead — outside the Ecwid iframe — because the iframe is sandboxed and the reviews look better surrounding the Ecwid store. Ecwid was acquired by Lightspeed in 2021; the product is now Ecwid by Lightspeed but the dashboard still says Ecwid in most places. No Facebook API key, no Facebook Fusion application, no business-level claim required.

Why doesn't Facebook have an official embed?

Facebook's Fusion API is positioned as a partner-channel product (used by Apple Maps and Trivago) rather than a merchant self-service product. Facebook does not publish a paste-ready embed widget the way Google publishes Place Cards. Third-party widgets are the standard way Ecwid stores surface their Facebook reviews — BlooTrue is the free option in that category.

About Facebook reviews in this widget

The Facebook widget embeds the recommendations left on your Facebook Page. Facebook retired star ratings for Pages in 2018, so there is no native Facebook star average; the widget shows each Recommends as a 5-star card and turns the Page's overall recommendation percentage into a 0 to 5 star figure for the header, both read from your Page. A customer leaves a recommendation by tapping Recommends or Doesn't recommend and writing a comment, which only works once Reviews are switched on in your Page settings. Many owners reach for Facebook's Page Plugin instead, an iframe of your timeline with no way to feature recommendations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Facebook only lets people click Recommends, so what rating does my widget display?

Facebook dropped numeric stars for Pages in 2018, so the widget does not invent a Facebook star average. Each Recommends becomes a 5-star card, and the header converts the Page's overall recommendation percentage into a 0 to 5 star figure. Both come from your Page, not from a calculation over the cards on your site.

Can I use Facebook's own Page Plugin to embed my recommendations?

No. The Page Plugin drops your whole Page timeline into an iframe and has no setting to show only recommendations, and Facebook's own tools cannot place them on an external site at all. The BlooTrue builder takes your Page URL instead and gives you a one-line embed, with no Facebook ad spend and no plugin required.

My Page has no Reviews tab, so where would the recommendations come from?

They only exist once you turn them on: open your Facebook Page settings, find the Reviews or Recommendations option and switch it on. Until then customers cannot tap Recommends and the builder finds nothing to import. A free widget holds the recommendations found that day; paid plans check the Page daily and drop the BlooTrue badge.

Is the BlooTrue Facebook widget free for Ecwid?

Yes. BlooTrue is completely free for Ecwid (by Lightspeed). No app marketplace install, no recurring app fee, unlimited views, no credit card. Works on every Ecwid plan, including the free tier.

Does Facebook offer its own embed widget for Ecwid?

No. Facebook does not provide an official embed widget for businesses to display their reviews on a storefront. Facebook's Fusion API is gated and primarily intended for partner apps, not merchant self-embeds. BlooTrue fills that gap.

Do I need a Facebook API key or Facebook Fusion access?

No. BlooTrue works with any public Facebook Page — no Facebook API key, no Facebook Fusion application, no business-level claim required. Just paste your facebook.com/yourpage-slug URL into the BlooTrue builder.

My Ecwid store is embedded in Wix (or WordPress / Squarespace) — where do I paste the embed code?

Paste it on the host site, not inside Ecwid. Ecwid's storefront iframe is sandboxed and your reviews look better placed alongside your Ecwid store on the host page. In Wix, drop a Custom Code element. In WordPress, use a Custom HTML block. In Squarespace, use a Code Block.

Standalone Ecwid Instant Site vs embedded Ecwid — which path applies to me?

If your store URL is on an Ecwid-hosted domain (mystore.company.site or a custom domain pointed at Ecwid Instant Site), use the storefront editor's Code element flow. If your Ecwid store is embedded inside another host site, paste the BlooTrue embed on the host page instead.

Does this work with Ecwid by Lightspeed (the rebranded version)?

Yes. Ecwid was acquired by Lightspeed in 2021 and the product is now officially "Ecwid by Lightspeed", but the dashboard still says Ecwid in most places and the install paths are unchanged.

Will the widget slow down my Ecwid store?

No. The widget loads asynchronously after page content, so it never blocks rendering. The script is under 20KB and reviews are served from a CDN cache. Typical impact on Largest Contentful Paint is under 50ms.
