Capterra reviews on a Squarespace software site

Squarespace gives a software company a polished site quickly, and Capterra gives buyers comparing tools a source they already use. The pairing is simple once two facts are clear: which Squarespace plans run the widget at all, and what Capterra reviews on your own pages can and cannot do in Google.

Which Squarespace plan does a Capterra widget need?

Core or higher. Code Blocks exist on every plan, but Squarespace runs JavaScript inside them only on Core, Plus, Advanced, Business and Commerce, so on Personal the Capterra widget never loads.

Check this before suspecting the code. A Personal site saves the block without any warning and shows nothing live. If the code appears as text instead, the block type was switched to Markdown; set it back to HTML.

Will Capterra stars show under my Squarespace page in Google?

No. Google does not show star ratings for reviews a business publishes about itself on its own site, so the widget works on the buyers reading your page rather than on the search result.

Review schema is a paid-plan feature, and it lets search engines read your Capterra rating and count as data. Treat it as tidy groundwork rather than a traffic plan, and judge the widget by what buyers do after reading it.

SEO + AI schema · paid plans

Review schema markup, on paid plans

Paid widgets add schema.org Review and AggregateRating JSON-LD to the page they sit on, so search engines and AI answer engines can read your Capterra reviews as structured data. Google does not show review stars for reviews a business shows about itself, so the gain is readability, not stars. The free plan shows the reviews without the schema. See how the schema works

How to Add Capterra Reviews to Squarespace

Connect your Capterra profile in BlooTrue, pick a style, then paste one embed code into the Code Block on Squarespace and publish. Code Blocks exist on every Squarespace plan, but JavaScript and iframes only render on Core, Plus, Advanced, Business and Commerce. Not Personal.

  1. 1

Open the page in the Squarespace editor.

  2. 2

Add a block and choose Code.

  3. 3

Paste the BlooTrue embed code (leave type as HTML).

  4. 4

Save — the widget renders on the live page (preview may show a placeholder).

The editor shows Code Blocks as a gray placeholder — the widget renders on the published page.

Where the Code Goes on Squarespace

In Squarespace the embed code goes into a Code Block, added from the block menu on the page with the type left as HTML. The editor shows a Code Block as a gray placeholder, so you never see the reviews inside the editor; they render on the live page after you save.

The block fills the width of its column in the section grid and expands to the widget's height. A Code Block is per page, and Code Injection under Settings is the site-wide alternative, but it puts code in the header or footer rather than in the page body.

If the widget does not show on Squarespace

  • If the live page shows nothing, check your plan; JavaScript in Code Blocks does not render on the Personal plan.
  • If the editor shows a gray box, that is normal; Squarespace renders Code Blocks on the published page only.
  • If the code appears as text, confirm the Code Block type is set to HTML, not Markdown.

Where Capterra reviews help most on Squarespace

A software company on Squarespace is usually an early-stage team with a marketing site: home, features, pricing, maybe a comparison page.

Put the Capterra widget under the hero on the home page, and on the pricing page above the plan cards, where buyers stop to decide whether the product is worth the money. A comparison page against a competitor is the third spot, since Capterra is where buyers go to check such comparisons, and showing your reviews there saves them the trip. On the features page a compact badge is enough; that page is about what the product does, and the proof can stay small.

About Capterra reviews in this widget

The Capterra widget brings the reviews from your Capterra product listing to your pages, with the rating out of 5 and review count Capterra publishes in the header. Software buyers use Capterra, a Gartner company, to build shortlists, so put the widget on the pages where they compare you. Capterra checks each review before publishing it. What site owners get wrong is reading the header as an average of the reviews on the page. It is Capterra's own figure and counts every review, including lower-rated ones a free widget leaves out.

Capterra Widget on Squarespace — FAQ

Is the BlooTrue Capterra review widget free for Squarespace?
Yes. BlooTrue is completely free to embed Capterra reviews on Squarespace. No plugin, no recurring fee, unlimited views. The free plan shows your reviews with BlooTrue branding in the footer; paid plans remove the branding.
How do I install the widget on Squarespace?
Open the page in the Squarespace editor. Add a block and choose Code. Paste the BlooTrue embed code (leave type as HTML). Save — the widget renders on the live page (preview may show a placeholder). Code Blocks exist on every Squarespace plan, but JavaScript and iframes only render on Core, Plus, Advanced, Business and Commerce. Not Personal.
Anything specific to Squarespace worth knowing before I embed?
The editor shows Code Blocks as a gray placeholder — the widget renders on the published page.
Where should I place Capterra reviews on Squarespace for the biggest lift?
An empty full-width section under the intro — Squarespace's spacing frames the reviews cleanly.
Do the reviews stay up to date automatically?
Paid plans auto-sync your Capterra reviews daily, so the widget always shows your latest 5-star reviews without touching Squarespace again. The free plan shows the reviews imported at setup.
What do I paste into the builder to pull my Capterra reviews?
The address of your product listing on Capterra, which takes the form capterra.com/p/ followed by a number and your product name. The builder reads the rating, review count and reviews from that listing. Pick a layout, copy the one-line embed and paste it into your comparison page; the whole thing takes about a minute.
I already display a Capterra badge, why would I add a widget?
Because the badge is an image. It shows no review content, none of the words reviewers wrote about your software, and no count of how many wrote them. The widget lists the reviews from your Capterra listing, so a buyer on your comparison page reads what other buyers said without leaving for Capterra.
Will my Capterra rating appear as stars under my page in Google search results?
No. Google's review-snippet rules exclude reviews a business shows about itself through an embedded widget. Paid plans still add schema.org Review and AggregateRating markup as JSON-LD carrying your Capterra rating and review count, which search engines and AI assistants can read when the embed renders inline on your page; if the embed sits in a sandboxed iframe, they never see it.
