Google Review Widget for Drupal — Free, No Contrib Module Needed
BlooTrue's Google Review Widget for Drupal is a free, module-free embed that displays your 5-star Google reviews on any Drupal site. It works on Drupal 7, Drupal 8, Drupal 9, Drupal 10, and Drupal 11, with the default Olivero theme (D10/D11), the older Bartik theme (D7/D8/D9), and any custom Drupal theme. There is no contrib module to install — the embed drops into a built-in Drupal Custom Block, into a Layout Builder inline block (Drupal 8.7+), or directly into a node body field. The only Drupal-side requirement is that the field's Text format is set to Full HTML so script tags are preserved. Six widget styles (slider, grid, list, masonry, badge, compact badge) with light and dark themes plus a free custom color picker. SEO rich snippets — schema.org Review + AggregateRating JSON-LD — are injected automatically, making your Drupal pages eligible for star ratings in Google search.
How to embed Google reviews on Drupal in 60 seconds
- Search your business in the configurator above (or paste your Google Maps share link).
- Pick a widget style and customize colors, theme, and layout.
- Click Copy Code to get the one-line HTML embed.
- For region placement: go to Structure → Block layout → Custom block library, click + Add custom block, switch the Body field Text format to Full HTML, click the Source button, and paste.
- Save the block, then go to Structure → Block layout, click Place block in your chosen region, and pick the new block.
- For inline node placement: edit the page or article, switch the body field to Full HTML, click Source, and paste the embed code where you want reviews.
Why does my embed disappear when I paste it into Drupal?
Drupal's default Basic HTML and Restricted HTML text formats strip script tags as a security measure. Switch the body field's Text format dropdown to Full HTML before pasting. If your role doesn't have access to Full HTML, ask an admin to grant it via Configuration → Content authoring → Text formats and editors. After switching to Full HTML, click the Source button in the editor to enter raw HTML mode before pasting.
BlooTrue vs paid Drupal review modules
The Drupal contrib catalog (drupal.org/project) lists several Google-review modules — most require an API key, OAuth flow, or a paid distribution like Acquia's marketplace add-ons. BlooTrue is free, requires no Drupal module install, and has no view cap. For most Drupal sites the free BlooTrue embed covers the use case completely.
